Access

It is understood that visitors to the Archives have consulted all pertinent secondary literature and are prepared to use primary sources. Scholars and other qualified researchers without Caltech affiliation may apply for access to the collections. Inquiries must be in writing and should state in full the researcher's purpose in consulting the Archives. In some instances, supporting documents may be requested from the prospective researcher.

Caltech-affiliated researchers are advised to call ahead for an appointment. Completion of an application for access will be required prior to admission to the collections.

All researchers must sign an agreement that they will not cite, quote or otherwise reproduce any material whose literary rights or reproduction rights are owned or supervised by the Institute or by third parties without first obtaining written permission.

Hours & Contact Info

The Archives is open for research Monday through Friday, 8:30am to11:45am and 1pm to 4pm. We are closed on weekends and Institute holidays.
